○The question Astro Boy asked was,:

“What sort of world would you like us all to be living in ten years in the future?”

○Selected “Flying Card” Messages:

  • “I hope Japan will get through to the last four in South Africa for starters—then best of luck to you in bringing the World Cup here to Japan. Come on Japan! Cheers, Astro Boy.” -- Male, 19 years old
  • “I hope that everyone everywhere will be friends. I want to play football with people from all over the world.” -- Female, 5 years old
  • “I think we’ll be living in a world where people are more connected, a world where people fraternize and relate to one another across national borders. That’s the sort of world I’d like to see. Football is one of the few sports that transcends language and helps people understand one another. Some time in the near future I’m looking forward to Japan holding a World Cup which will bring the people of the world together.” -- Female, 29 years old
  • “I wish there’ll be no more war, and the world will be a place where we can all live in peace and security. It would be great if we could solve global warming too! By then the children of today will have grown up to become adults, and they’ll be the ones playing in the World Cup.” -- Female, 54 years old
  • “I hope that all the pitches in Japan will have been grassed over so that we have the best environment to enjoy playing football. Japanese football will be No. 1 in the world, and as for me, I’ll be a striker on the national team.” -- Male, 14 years old
  • I’ll be 70 by then, but I’ll be healthy, positive, just as passionate about soccer as any soccer-mad kid, and watching the World Cup here in Japan. And I hope that Japan will play in the final and win it.” -- Male, 60 years old
